Getting started

Welcome to TCC auctions

Moving, downsizing, decluttering, liquidating... whatever you call it, we know it can be overwhelming and stressful.  TCC Auctions can help.  Start here:

Our Professional advice

packing

1. If it shakes, it breaks. Use adequate packing material. Consider double-boxing fragile items.

2. When your move date is 3 weeks away, pack a suitcase for a 3 week trip.  Everything else goes in a box.

3. Don't fall prey to this mindset: "It's not so much stuff and we're not moving far.  Let's just put it in our car." We've seen Jed Clampett-esque overstuffed cars.  And people throwing items into trash bins at the last minute.  We also know what a disorganized mess it is to unpack all that haphazardness at the new place. Do yourself a favor: box it all.

4. Consider the cost of moving an item.  Maybe that 20 year old sofa bed is not so important to keep when you determine the cost to move it.

5. Moving supplies to have on hand.

donating, selling & repurposing

donating, selling & repurposing

Here at TCC Auctions, we care about the planet and operate as "green" as possible. We encourage you to do so as well.  Here's options for donating, selling or re-purposing an item (see below).

downsizing/organizing

donating, selling & repurposing

donating, selling & repurposing

1. Start with 3 boxes.  Mark them "donate" "trash" "keep".

2. Take it slow.  Start with one drawer or one type of item (shoes, books, etc.).  Once you get in a groove you'll gain momentum.

3.  Need inspiration or motivation? We like these:

  • The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up -  Marie Kondo
  • Keep the Memories, Lose the Stuff - Ken Paxton
  • Downsizing the Family Home: What to Save, What to Let Go - Marni Jameson
  • The Home Edit: A Guide to Organizing and Realizing Your House Goals - Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin
